Financial aid is available in the form of teaching and research assistantships, tuition scholarships,
work-study programs, loans, and Co-op programs. Interested students should consult their advisors for other types of aid.
The department employs 20-25 students as graduate teaching assistants to assist with grading and to supervise programming, hardware, and networking laboratories. Another 15-20 CS students are employed as graduate research assistants on campus. There are also good opportunities to work in local industries in the Cooperative Education Program.
Applications must be made one semester in advance of the work assignment. Financial aid in the computer science department is very limited. Therefore, an offer of financial aid before arrival at UAH is usually only made to the strongest Ph.D. candidates. The application form for financial aid should be submitted to the department at the beginning of the semester.
